SMC was responsible for the design and construction supervision of the original harbour at Sri Racha, and we were subsequently invited by the Client to undertake the extension of the existing 40 m wide berth structure to the north by 160m.
The berth is used to receive bulk cargo and scrap steel and can accommodate ships of up to 75,000 dwt. The extension included removal of the existing northern mooring dolphin and construction of a new one, and the provision of all items appropriate to marine operations, such as fendering of the north edge, extension of berth lighting system and provision of ducts to accommodate further cranes.
SMC undertook the detail design of this extension and provided technical support to the client through the tender process, as well as preparing contract documents on selection of the contractor and then supervising the construction on site.
