SMC in association with Tokyo Gas Engineering Company Limited undertook FEED for a new LNG terminal at Nong Fab located approximately 5km west of Map Ta Phut Port. SMC were responsible for design of the marine works for LNG carriers up to 266,000m3 at two berths located approximately 5km offshore. The marine works included approach trestle, unloading platform, dolphins and all other associated elements.
SMC undertook the following tasks related to the marine works.
Site survey and investigation.
Seismic, met-ocean and wave climate studies.
Navigation simulation.
Mooring analysis to determine loads and vessel movements under operational and extreme events.
Design of mooring system.
Assess impact on operations due to environmental conditions.
Berth occupancy and weather downtime studies.
Optimization of berth positions and orientation.
Existing subsea pipeline crossing study and design.
Preparation of design criteria, drawings and specifications.
Cost estimates and scheduling.
Tender documentation and support during tendering process.
Through an additional contract SMC further undertook project management consultancy services for EPCC (marine works) also including the review of the contractor’s design as well as construction supervision.
