The government of Myanmar required the design and construction of a port in the Dawei region of the country. This was to include the creation of 3 basins large enough to accommodate ships of 120,000 dwt, each with quay wall structures, a 50m apron, wharf services along the quay and container and material handling equipment such as gantry cranes and other ancillary provisions to ensure full operation.
Port-wide and onshore facilities such as breakwaters, revetments, marine services facilities, port administration buildings and infrastructure were also required. A considerable amount of dredging was also necessary.
SMC undertook the cost estimate and preparation of bills of quantities of the entire project throughout the design process from concept stage to final design.
