MRTA Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line Mass Transit Railway Depot
Huay Kwang, Bangkok, Thailand
SMC led the design team to undertake the outline and definitive designs for the Metropolitan Rapid Transit Authority’s depot buildings and facilities for the first underground mass transit system (Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line) in Bangkok.

The Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line consists of 18 stations and approximately 20km of twin tunnels. The depot, situated at Huay Kwang, near the mid-point of the route, covers an area of approximately 48 hectares and includes a main workshop building, covered stabling, a permanent way building, an operation control centre (under a different contract and referenced in the buildings section of this website) and ancillary facilities to provide full maintenance support for the Chaloem Ratchamongkhon Line and its rolling stock.

SMC worked closely with the operator’s design consortium to ensure full co-ordination between the building infrastructure and the maintenance equipment together with the proposed maintenance regimes for rolling stock and other railway assets.
