The municipality of Copenhagen initiated measures to prevent flash flooding in the city and HOFOR and Frederiksberg Forsyning were tasked  to implement the Kalvebod Brygge cloudburst tunnel in the city centre. This tunnel and shaft system will collect water from the existing waste water network at Vodroffsvej and Sønder Boulevard and transport it for discharge at Kalvebod Brygge.

The Kalvebod cloudburst tunnel will also accommodate access during construction for tunneling operations and provide permanent access for operations proper and maintenance.

SMC undertook the detail design of the JOR shaft and the SB shaft and connecting structure between the SB shaft and the existing sewer system.
