Nava Nakorn New Town
Bangkok, Thailand
Nava Nakorn is a privately developed new town, 50 km north of Bangkok to accommodate 100,000 people in a self-contained fully integrated development. The town is situated between the major north-south highway and railway routes from Bangkok. SMC Consulting Engineers were appointed at the Phase I design stage of the project, at which point only the basic feasibility of the project and outline plans for its phased development over several years had been established.

SMC Consulting Engineers carried out investigations and studies of the internal and external traffic and transportation requirements for the new town and developed proposals for internal and external highway, pedestrian and cycle facilities, including plans for a rail / bus terminus. The detailed planning and design of networks of roads, pedestrian ways and cycle tracks followed, together with that of the bridges and electrical services system. Particular attention was paid to the functional end landscaping aspects of the interchange points at road/canal bridges. Subsequently, tender documents were produced for roads and bridges and for power and telephone services.
