The Muang Pattaya Sports Complex
Chonburi, Thailand
The Municipal Authority of Pattaya required the design of a sports complex in Chonburi which included facilities for football and athletics, swimming and tennis as well as beach volley ball - all at national and international competition levels. Training facilities for each discipline were also required. The client intended that the complex be built in phases and we were commissioned to undertake the structural and civil engineering design as well as tender documentation for the scheme.

The main stadium is for football and athletics and accommodates 20,000 spectators. It features an elliptical-shaped stand, part of which is covered by a steel cantilevered curved roof, 40m in depth at its widest point.
The Tennis Centre Court holds 2,000 spectators, and was designed as an amphitheatre with a partially open roof measuring 68m in diameter, the covered part of which spans 16m.

The 2000-seat Aquatic Centre provides an Olympic standard pool and diving facilities. The centre is covered by a steel structure wave-like roof with a 64m clear span.
