The Impact Arena
Muang Thani, Thailand
We undertook the structural engineering design as well as project management of this multi-purpose complex which was one of the three major venues in Bangkok used to host the 13th Asian Games in 1998. This venue hosted the events for boxing, volleyball, gymnastics, weight-lifting, rugby, tennis as well as billiards and snooker.

We were also responsible for the construction supervision of the complex, working with our then partners Maunsell Australia, to design the 105m clear span steel roof girders of the main building.

The main hall measures 440m long, 120m wide and 30m high with a clear internal span of 105 m. It comprises four 5,000m2 halls (which can be opened into one single large space) and a ‘U’-shaped arena with tiered seating for 12,500. The secondary stadium is a single hall of 4,000m2 and the complex is complete with an Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool.
